  • Bal Vihar Sevak Workshop

On 30th August 2025, Chinmaya Seva Centre, Singapore, hosted a full-day workshop for Bal Vihar Sevaks under the guidance of Swami Avyayanandaji. Close to 30 Sevaks gathered for this session designed to deepen understanding of Seva and strengthen their role in guiding children through values-based learning. Swamiji started the day on the essence of Seva, explaining that it is not a particular action but a bhāva, an inner attitude carried in and through every thought and action. Swamiji reminded the group that Bal Vihar serves a higher vision: shaping the next generation with Vedantic values, serving the community and nation by inculcating pride in our great Hindu culture and values, and continuing the mission of Pujya Gurudev. Interactive segments featured demonstrations, discussions, and experience sharing by Sevaks who guide across the different age groups. Techniques were shared on engaging children through stories, shloka recitation, activities, art, and games, while also addressing inclusivity, relationships, and the needs of today’s digital generation. Sevaks were encouraged to treat children with respect, offer them space to voice their thoughts, and combine discipline with affection. The format itself reflected a Bal Vihar class, weaving together chanting, storytelling, and games, creating both joy and reflection. Sevaks left re-energised, carrying new methods, deeper clarity, and above all, a reminder that Seva is a lifelong attitude of love, surrender, and dedication.
