Who We Are?
Shishu Vihar is a parent and child weekly class, specially designed for infants, toddlers, and young, new mothers for an early introduction to spiritual education. The added benefit of mothers learning with their children is that the rhymes and stories get strongly embedded and reinforced in the minds of the children.
Shishus learn about Hindu gods and goddesses through songs, stories, art and craft activities, and by celebrating various festivals. All lessons are appropriate to the age and development of shishus.
In 2023, our shishus learnt about Ganesha, Rama, Hanuman, Krishna, Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Gurudev through stories, songs, and art and craft activities.
Some memorable shishu activities include making a cradle for Krishna, milking a cow, churning butter, stealing butter, participating in Janmashtami celebrations, performing Ganesh pooja during Ganesh Chaturthi, making a Ganesha mask, and celebrating Mother’s Day during Navaratri, among others.
The year ended on a high note in the presence of Swami Avyayanandaji, with all the shishus dressed up as different gods and goddesses.
